Cowboys & Aliens Movie Review

The plot of Cowboys & Aliens is pretty much exactly much you’d expect. Daniel Craig portrays Jake Lonergan, a man who one day wakes up in the middle of the desert with amnesia. He has no idea who he is or how he got there.

So he goes into the nearest town where he meets some people including the town’s sheriff (Harrison Ford) and a mysterious woman (Olivia Wilde). The town is then invaded by aliens and it’s to these characters to defeat them.

I thought that this was a solid movie. There’s not really anything special about it. But nonetheless, I still had a good time.

Daniel Craig gave a good performance, as did Olivia Wilde, and Paul Dano who wasn’t in the film as much as I wanted. I wasn’t too fond of Harrison Ford in the movie. It’s like his character had one emotion: very angry. And he kept talking in that gravely voice the whole time. What was that about?

The movie doesn’t really do anything new or original. But the story here is good enough and it didn’t turn out to be as predictable as I expected. It was mostly predictable but there were a few nice surprises.

The movie is a lot of fun. I was never bored watching it. The action scenes are very entertaining. They did a good job with the visuals effects too.  The aliens’ spacecrafts look very realistic. And I thought the aliens themselves looked pretty cool. Of course you could say that they don’t look very original.

I think if you go into this expecting a great move, you might be disappointed. But if all that you want is a nice fun action movie,  I think it’s the movie for you.

I give it a 6/10.

A friend gave it a 4 stars and said some nasty things about Harrison Frod acting drunk. I’m passing on it. Slow on writing reviews lately, busy with some family birthdays, work, setting up a new Blackberry etc.
